Poetic-Verses from ATHANASE

Revelator Occulti (English)

'This is my oath, in truth,
that my heart speaks and that I will never betray.'

Words of the oath of Akhenaten engraved
on certain steles on the borders of Akhetaton.

Clusters of papyrus flowers, clusters of lilies
bow to your sacred beauty.

Prince, tonight let us pray
before the bread and wine
that the indivisible air,
and the light of true words
may be our portion
for time immemorial!

Let us listen to the incantations
of the oarsmen!
Their sacred words like
sapphire bricks
reflect
the limpid sky!

Let us sail tonight, Prince,
rocked by their rippling lullabies
into the most peaceful of all lands!

Turn your radiant face towards me
so that I,
moved by your look of utter clarity,
and the trembling solemnity of your silence
may intercept
the forbidden song
of the great depths!

I, your Friend, chosen by the gods,
will carry the vase of holy oil in one hand,
the vase of unction in the other,
and wear the robe of pleated linen,
the celestial shawl around my shoulders
and the golden necklace of the god Ra!

I, the interpreter of sacred things,
the occult unveiler
of the deeply moving mysteries
of Love!
