M's Poetry

World Weary

I have seen her in those days
with blood shot red eyes
the tears that fell
the fear and rage
sparked by a lifetime
of seeing your best fall short
being always cast in the corner

I have seen her stumble
then appear out on the wire again
and as her chances slipped
so did her belief
of one day seeing more
of living better
and slowing I realized
how exasperated she was
walking on borrowed time
dragging through the motions
sorry she said my best just wasn't enough

and the storm rages in her mind
the fire used to burn
but she is now just leaving it
nowhere now can she be found
looked in every place in town
but a letter is not needed
I get the point now

the cops rap my door
says do you know her?
I said officer I do
then he tells me quietly
we found her....she was in a dumpster....
