Upstairs downstairs

She sits across the table from me
As I slide down in to my seat
Pours me a mug of tea
And we both begin to eat
I can see across her face
Just above her lips
A spot of flour just a trace
That attracts my finger tips

Upstairs downstairs
All around the house
My hoped for love affair
Proceeds like cat and mouse

To gently brush across her skin
With my trembling hand
As she absently tucks back in
Hair escaping from its band
She smiles a friendship smile
A smile of utter trust
Not knowing all this while
I am struggling with my lust

Upstairs downstairs
All around the house
My hoped for love affair
Proceeds like cat and mouse

Then comes the part I hate
Our food all eaten up
She takes away my plate
With her own plate and cup
Her presence sets me on fire
Her every smile and touch
Increasing my desire
So very very much

Upstairs downstairs
All around the house
My hoped for love affair
Proceeds like cat and mouse

She gives me that little grin
That just seems to say
Both on our own again
For the rest of this day
She hies to her kitchen range
I to clean the master's shoes
When I wed don't think it strange
She'll be the one I choose

Upstairs downstairs
All around the house
My hoped for love affair
Proceeds like cat and mouse

Walking round the gardens
Clearing all the weeds
Far too much land here
For any one man's needs
Oh for just a little corner
Where we could hide away
Form the drudgery of service
At the end of every day

Upstairs downstairs
All around the house
My hoped for love affair
Proceeds like cat and mouse
