Circle Of Gratitude
You came back with cancer
I had so many questions
you had no answers
all the years you were gone
was never really talked about
instead we spent three weeks
at the beach
just living life
and I never wanted you to leave
but you said all songs have a end
don't be scared you said baby girl
we all are born
to only one day leave this world
I remember the last night
it was so crystal clear
hardly a cloud in the sky
and the galaxy of stars
seem to just be brighter
you touched my shoulder
told me not to cry
I would go do bigger and better things
and I asked you how you could possibly know that
you winked and said just because I said so
it's been a while since I returned to this place
and as I sit on this spot
I realized the change
I survived and I made it
pain was sometimes my inspiration
but it made me stronger
happiness is not by accident
and you helped me each and every day
it's funny for the most part
you wasn't here physically
but I know you are here still
pushing me, pushing me
to the next phase
