As The Ice Melts
As the ice melts
on this warm spring day,
I hear bird calls
from not too far away.
I look over the lake
and see water breaking from beneath,
as the ice melts
a sure bequeath of spring.
The ducks fly overhead
looking for food to eat,
walking through a trail
snow crunches neath our feet.
No deer out today
they are down for a rest,
breathing in the fresh air
no need to feel stress.
As the ice melts
on this warm spring day,
taking in the beautiful sights
as horses eat their hay.
