WINDOWS

WINDOWS

Oh! To close the windows of the mind
Would be great, so we don`t have to find
Our thoughts wandering to reminisce
On all the things we love and miss.

The clock can never be turned back
But our mind always has the knack
Of pulling on our heart strings
Flying us as though our feet had wings.

Times of joy are good to return to
When nothing but love was all you knew
Growing up with fun and laughter
It`s what happens then, thereafter.

Throughout your lifetime things will change
Some of these may seem very strange
But it`s part of life, or so we`re told
No doubt coming from sayings of old.

People will come and people will go
Nothing`s forever it goes to show
But these will have a lasting effect
Some leaving you and now your life`s wrecked.

What you shared, what you had is no more
The evil twist of fate leaves you raw
A wound that in time, they say, will heal
God shuts his ears when you pray and kneel.

Does time heal the `missing you` times – no
I am an expert – so I should know
Oh close the door and lock them away
These windows that open and let my mind stray.

I want to open and peek inside
And those I don`t like, I want to hide
Bury them deep so they can`t hurt me
I only want love to run wild and free.

The wind will blow and open they`ll fly
But will they make you low or take you high?
Suppose it`s a case of pitch and toss
You could be reminded of your loss.

One day I hope to look back with a smile
And not feel that I have to run a mile
Maybe I can cope with what has gone before
And that raw feeling may then just be sore.
