Words unspoken, Words unread!
Hope for the Best
(Written in August 2005)
Fallen from grace,
And failed his last test.
There's little concern,
For that man called George Best.
He has had his last chance,
Caught beating his wife.
He was given a transplant,
Had a new look on life.
Now he's back on the bottle,
In the gutter again.
Unnecessary heartache,
Unwarranted pain.
Dear George was the greatest,
Had the world at his feet.
We thought you were winning,
Had that alcohol beat.
But now you're a menace,
The drinks got a grip.
What was the problem?
Why did you slip?
This chance you've been given,
Was not made by fate.
Respect yourself Bestie,
You can beat this thing mate.
