Heir To The Throne (Pt.4)

The King glared at his brother.
His brother stood there and laughed.

"So, my brother, we finally meet again."

"Yes," the King said, "and you are going to pay dearly for what you have done to my family."

"Is that so?" he said,
As he had a sneer look on his face.

The King knew that today was the day
His brother was going to die.
They raised their swords and began to fight.
The battle went one, what it had seemed like forever.

Off in the distance, the Princess looked on.
She didn't want to stay at the castle.
She wanted to be close to her father.
The King's brother fell to his knees.

"Now, my dear brother, it's your turn to die."

The King's brother yelled out, "Noooo, please brother, will thee let me live?
For I am sorry."

The King was so full of rage, because of his wife's death.
He blocked out everything around him,
But his brother's pitiful face.
The King never gave his brother's pleading a second thought.
He then raised his sword high in the air
And chopped off his brother's head.

The King then fell to his knees.

A single tear ran down his cheek as he fell face first into the mud.
His daughter jumped down off her horse
And ran through the rain , down the hill to her father.

"Father, speak to me," she sobbed.

She placed her father's head in her lap.

"Please, forgive me dear daughter, for this is what had to be done."

The Princess' eyes filled with tears.

"Father, don't leave me."

The King looked into his daughter's eyes.

"The Kingdom is now yours young one."

The Princess put her hand upon her father's chest.
She could feel the beating of her father's heart no more.
The Princess removed her hand from her father's chest.

Her father's blood stained her hand.

The Prince came up behind her and helped her up off the ground.
She knew today was going to be the day of her father's death.
The Prince wrapped his arms around the Princess and held her tightly.

He whispered in her ear, "Your father wanted me to tell you this," he began, "he said, if he shall die, he wanted me to take your hand in marriage."

The Princess just looked at him.

"I promised him, I would fulfill his last wish," he said.

A year after her father died, the Princess married the Prince.
