Radical's Poetry

An Ode to the 80s

I fondly look back on those days of yore
And my heart is stirred unlike ever before
(Except once for a damsel, but that's another story;
A quest that did not attain everlasting glory)

This music provides me with such cherished links!
When I'm sad, I think of the Kinks;
Who warmly advised "Don't Forget to Dance"
And I heed MWH's encouragement to "Take a Chance"

And so I escape from my work and my stress
And remember the magic (perhaps cheesy, but nonetheless...)
Which reminds me of bold colors and audacious dress
And I wish I were older, I have to confess

For I was but a boy then, 12 years at the close
Of a marvelous era of colorful prose
Versed by such bards as Neil Tennant and Bernard Sumner
And Paul Hewson, Simon LeBon, and Gordon Sumner

Oh, that the glory of the era might remain!
For let's face it: 90s music was, by comparison, plain!
