Life Was As Hard As Can Be; But No More!

My life was as hard as could be,
Because my mobility isn't that good!
So to make it easier, for me,
I fought the fight, as only I could!
So I was in need of an accessible home-
Of relative safety for me,
But I was horrified with red tape in life!
And was as angry as can be!
So I decided to take things to task,
And cause a whole load of strife!
For those who deemed a pathetic rule,
That made things hard in life!
We all have a basic need I say,
And yes, I'll tell it true!
I didn't just fight this fight for me,
But all other disabled people too!

And so I would break their pathetic rule!
That made the disabled people sad!
Because I hate injustice, and this was unjust,
Because of a rule they had!
Disabled people had to be over 55yrs old,
To get an adapted home!
And no-one fought this stupid rule,
So I did it on my own!
The more they push, the harder I shove,
So I shoved with all my might!
No way was this rule going to stay!
So I went public every night!
I shamed them in the papers;
I shamed them to the limit, that's fact!
If I wanted to have a home of safety,
Then I seriously had to act!

So I shouted it from the rooftops!
And made my voice heard aloud!
And caused so much trouble for them,
They were sitting under a dark cloud!
But did I care I went public?  No! And more,
How would it turn out for me?
Would they toss me aside, ignore what I did,
Or give me an accessible property!
I promised them I would go all the way,
And cause such utter strife!
Why?  Because their rule was wrong!
So they messed about with my life!
I took them to task, oh yes, I did,
And never once held did I break or slack!
I wasn't going to go away or give up;
Oh, I was pushing at their back!

I broke that pathetic rule!  Oh but how!
And got an accessible home!
Not only that, but I know I did well,
Because I wasn't on my own!
The disabled people were given them too,
And what joy that gave to me!
For there they are, all smiles and happy,
As delighted as can be!
And the little 12 yr old boys,
Who are totally dependant on their mum!
Were also given a bungalow,
So if you fight, look what can be done!
I don't write this to be egotistical,
But more, to tell it true!
If you have a fight on your hands,
Then you can win that fight too!

It's called never backing down,
Never fearing the reprisal of the act!
Just go boldly were no-one else will go!
And don't do it with tact!
If you are fighting the fight because of injustice,
Then do it 100% and more!
That way you'll win, and no matter the result,
You'll know what you did it for!
Be like me, like a dog with a bone,
Don't let it go; and hold on tight!
Barge on through, do what you need to do!
Fight injustice!!  Fight that fight!!!
If I can do what they say was impossible,
And break a rule that wouldn't break!
Trust me; you can do it too,
Because something that's needed - is at stake!

Fight the fight, and don't you ever give in,
Stand as strong as you can, don't let injustice win!
