A Sonnet For Her

Your Sweet Words

Despair floods my empty heart,
recalling the undeniable connection we shared.
Your expressions of endearment
once filled my soul with ecstasy,
causing harmony to thrive in our hearts,
the line between us undistinguishable.
Your generic words are now
foreign to my ears,
and unacceptable to my heart.
The solid rock on which we stood
is reduced to rubble.
The heart that rested next to mine
is now distant and unreachable,
as my outstretched arms come up empty.
My lost soul continues its aimless search in vain,
resigned to never feel the warmth
of your sweet words again.
