Heart Of The Matter

Where Is God?

And who or what or where is God?
Yet still you call his name,
And though you say you don't believe,
He's with you all the same.

To me, He sits not on a throne,
White beard upon his chin,
You will not find him looking out,
You'll find him deep within.

For when you're lost in deep despair,
In loneliness and pain,
You'll shed your bitter tears of grief,
And call Him by his name.

Yes, death and sadness, as they say,
Go together, hand in glove,
But we must focus on the gift,
They leave behind the love.

For love goes on forever,
A bond you can't untie,
The body may be broken,
But the spirit cannot die.

We all go on forever,
To meet up once again,
In love and perfect harmony,
Bereft of grief and pain.
