Over My Shoulder!

I've had such burdens to carry of late,
They've beaten me down, so I'm in a state!
I needed help, but I had none,
Where is my God, where has he gone?

I felt abandoned, like He didn't care,
He wasn't around, He was never there!
He gives us what we can carry, what we can bear,
But my shoulders are sagging, it doesn't feel fair!

I needed His help, and I needed Him there,
To help me through but He didn't hear my prayer!
Where was my God, when I needed Him so?
Why didn't He help me, why did He let go!

All my life has been lived in pain,
And I needed my God, again and again!
Did he abandon me, did he turn me away?
And let me suffer, yet another day!

No, for I had a dream, a wonderful dream,
He told me that things are never what they seem!
'I was over your shoulder all the time He said,'
'Why do you think you're alive, and not dead?'

He was over my shoulder an invisible friend…
Who's strength and support he'd always lend!
Why didn't I know, how could I not see…?
That all the time, He was here with me!

‘Why did you let me doubt you?'  I asked of Him,
‘And is my suffering all because of my sin?'
‘No!  My child,' my God did tell…
‘There is no such thing, as a damning hell!'

‘Your life has been blessed in so many ways,'
‘And I shall be over your shoulder, all of your days!'
'Never doubt and never falter, know this to be true,'
‘No matter what happens in your life, I am a part of you!'

He was over my shoulder all the time, so you see,
He does care and support, and carry me!
I'll always remember, when in any doubt…
That my God is with me, helping me out!

He let me live...!

I didn't die!

He was there all the time...

He did hear my cry!
