I asked my God in the dark of night!Last night in my bed as I tried to sleep, Thoughts in my head so came to creep! I thought of the future waiting for me, And fear and pain were all I could see. So I asked my God in the dark of night, To help my pain and help ease my plight! I looked to the ceiling, beyond the sky; And asked of my God, to tell me why; Tell me why I am in so much harsh pain, What is the reason, what is the gain? And as I lay there in the dark of night, My God heard me, and I got a fright! ‘Catherine!' He boomed out loud from the sky, I went sick!! He almost made me cry!' ‘Oh God!' I shouted towards the sky! ‘Why do you punish me and make me cry!' I listened hard; I really did, but no sound, Then once again, my voice I found! ‘Dear God, why have you so burdened me, With a pain out of sight and such fear I see? Did you deem me this fate for a reason I can't see? And at what point did you decide it was to be me? That has to walk the walk of such pain and strife, That hurts me so, throughout my life! Is it for a reason my God? Why you did this to me? For there is no reasoning that I can see! What did I do that was so very wrong, and so bad! To have me birthed to a life of pain so very sad! For the pain and torment you inflict on me! Is out of control, as you know it to be! How do you expect me to carry on as I do? And not to get angry and mad at you! So! Are you there my God, can you hear my plight! As once again I'm in agony throughout the night!' Well I guess He didn't want to hear me this night, And I was feeling so bad, my pain out of sight! Then I heard a sigh within my God again, Oh dear me, I think I drive Him insane! ‘Catherine, you listen to me, and listen true, Your pain is not because of what you did or will do! It's simply to let you walk the walk of many in life, And hold the empathy you need to help ease their strife! And to know how they feel in their lonely, saddened plight, To help them to get through even the darkened night! For to know someone walks the same walk and understand! Helps them to know, their pain is shared throughout the land! And this tells them that they are not alone, oh no, It's just the path I decided that they must go! Everything I do has a meaning for me… And on the day of reckoning you will see… That your life of pain and turbulence and of strife, Was to let you see there is a painless afterlife! And so then you will see what I am telling to you… When you arrive at the gates, you'll know it's true!' So once again I bowed my head in shame, For doing His head in once again! And whispered to the ceiling where I see him there, ‘Thank you my God, for always being here!' ‘That's ok kid! You're welcome most high! But listen to me, kid, it's ok to cry!! So don't feel you're a pain, and don't feel so sad, The pain I have given you is so very bad; Because there is a reason for everything I do! And when your demise arrives, it will be known to you! Meanwhile keep on smiling, and laughing every day! And I promise I will carry you on every given day! And when you feel I have abandoned you, please retract, Cos that's not so, nope, it's absolutely not fact! For at the many times in your life that you feel alone, They are the days I always carry you home! Remember - footsteps that can't always be seen! But they are there, even when you're in dream! I will never abandon you, more I will care; And carry you high, though you don't know I'm there! Hold onto that light and as you face each day of pain, Remember this well, I'm there at your side once again!' ‘Well thank you for that my God!' I whispered this night, ‘Because this pain of mine is way out of sight!
