To Know How It Feels…To know how it feels to be abandoned, Is not possible, that is a fact of life! For until it happens to you… You have no concept of the fear and strife! Life is sometimes harsh and cruel, For others more than the rest, Because life is never that easy you know, It's a fact that this life is a test! So how do you tell a child something? That a child wouldn't be able to understand! How do you make it so simply so, To let them know nothing is always planned. I had no idea what to say tonight, But I tried my very best… My friend said that I didn't fail him, But that I'd have put his mind at rest. But I don't know if I did that, Because I'm not there looking at him! All I hope is that he settled down to sleep, And that he kept my words within. And I hope that every morning that comes, He will remember what I'd told him to say… Arise from bed, and stand strong and tall… And take his life day, by day… But he's only a little lad of 12… And I don't know if he can get through… Because he feels abandoned and lonely! And I don't know what the hell I can do! So I sit here and cry to myself softly, Trying to imagine his pain this night… And pray to God for strength so true, To help me to ease his plight! Because I don't know what else to do! And it hurts! Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem |
