Did You See It?
Did you see it?
The confusion,
The pain in the eyes,
The anger,
And the emptiness,
and the hurt ……..
Did you really see fit,
To watch her walk away,
Beaten and broken,
Shoulders heavy,
And hunched,
Against a thoughtless,
Flippant remark,
That sent her reeling,
And out of your life,
Forever……..
Defiant now,
Did you see?
Hands trembling,
Like the petals of a rose,
Caught,
In a summer breeze,
And fists clenched,
Valiantly,
In regret.
In victory,
The battle won,
Her tears, your proof,
Of the love,
You wrenched,
From her soul,
And held like a trophy,
In your hands.
Do you see it now?
The dying,
Flickering flame,
That needs only,
A gentle thought,
To replenish it,
Again.
