Heart Of The Matter

Reflections

Image hosting by Photobucket

I came upon this place,
And sat awhile on a rock,
Alone, with only transient thoughts,
Sent forth to who knows where…….

And all around are trees,
The strong and silent type,
Steadfast and true,
And blackened by the now fading light,
Their reflections dance on the water,
As so many did before,
Or was this only illusion?

Fragile and vulnerable,
Obliterated by a pebble in the pool,
And swept away by ripples of revenge,

I'm lost in my reflections,
And time moves rapidly to the past,
The cool night breeze on my face,
In a tender moment,
Becomes a memory of the future,
Stored for recall, later,
When I remember,

The man with the smile in his eyes.
