Heart Of The Matter

By The Shore

I thought of you as I sat by the shore,
And cast my eyes as if to find you there,
The setting sun so different to before,
Without you here I'm lost beyond compare,

I watched it as it sank into the sea,
No longer did its leaving hold me rapt,
Nor did I have the sense of being free,
You see, your love has left me somewhat trapped,

I waited till the moon took all control,
The stars vied for position in the sky,
Oh how, like you, they touched my very soul,
I wonder; do you see time passing by.

I thought of you as I sat by the shore,
And love you, how I miss you, to the core.
