Dark Poetry From A Twisted Mind
Fitful Sleep
I dreamt of him
Again last night.
I don't know what
To say.
Each time he calls
The nightmares come.
They will not
Go away.
I loved him
With such desperation.
Clung to him
As though
No other man
Walked the earth.
I suffered such
Humiliation.
The other women
Behind my back.
But I refused
To search…
For someone who
Would treat me right.
Who'd say kind words
& hold me
In his arms
Each night.
It's been a year now
Since he left.
I've a new beau now.
But when my ex
Calls late at night,
Even if we have
No row…
I wake up screaming
In the night.
My new beau says
I cling to him
& hold him tightly
As I dream.
I cry in my sleep.
Can't help but weep.
It's too much
To bear alone.
