Our hidden self lives deep inside, which oft' at times refuse to show
Reflections of a gentle heart, ashamed to let true feelings grow
No kind words, no small display of love escapes from cruel tongues
It centers on our ego's views, without the thought of righteouness
Pride is the name of that dark side, which holds the reins of selfishness
Which sometimes lead to bitterness, and can only cause regretfulness
In short, unleashed it will destroy and will consume our peacefulness
Turn then ye children of God's grace, be true in heart and also face
