Heart Of The Matter

This Guy, He Sang The Blues

Image hosting by Photobucket

I was listening to some music,
I last heard years ago,
Reminded me, a special night,
When I went to see a show,

The singer up there on the stage,
This guy he sang the blues,
And born and bred in my home town,
He really couldn't lose.

His voice as rich as chocolate,
A melting mellow sound,
And deeply dark delicious,
A timeless talent found.

This guy was just a singer,
He sang his way to fame,
Yet sadly, so oblivious,
Not many knew his name.

You see, the band was famous,
With many a sell out tour,
Their name was Robin Trower,
And the singer, Jimmy Dewar.

I met him once; I spoke to him,
Approached him at a bar,
This ordinary Glasgow singer,
A home-grown superstar.

And now he's gone forever,
He passed some years ago,
But I recall a special night,
When I went to see a show.
