I was twenty one when my little helper was born
She had the bluest eyes and the softest hair
what little she had of it
Her cheeks were chubby, and she had the sweetest laugh
I knew from the beginning
she was a blessed gift from God
When she learned to talk
she ask a million questions
Why is the sky blue, what makes the water flow
Why do the stars shine only at night
Why does my play-dough dry out
What will I be when I grow up
Will I be like you
I would sew and make her the cutest outfits
She was so proud of everything I made for her
For five years she was the center of our universe
Then we had a new addition to our family - her brother
She was fascinated by him
She watched every move I made with him
She would sit beside me and I let her hold him in
her outstretched arms
He was her doll and she was his second mommy
Her love for him was unselfish and hadn't changed
even thought she was not the complete center of our world anymore
Today she is grown up and married and lives in another state
She is still the sweet giving girl she was back then
Everyday day she calls home and ask a million question
How are you today - what have you been doing - Did you get outside
so many questions full of loving concern
She was my little helper from the beginning and will be till the end
She was my sweet baby girl
Now she is my dear friend
