I slip away in familiar dream's delights
With you, I sit in the pale moonlight
As secret thoughts vibrate my mind
And it is night again for us, of a magical kind
By the seashore in a distant long ago time
Stars alone witnessed as fathom bells chimed
Their lights twinkled across an indigo sky
We walked together leaving the crowd behind
I smelt the salty air as lovers strolled on by
No-one but the mischievous wind heard
And it blew our whispers, your voice and mine
Across the waves to a hidden sanctuary high
So fresh in my mind, I still hear the sea's sighs
And there we paused, lost in each others eyes
For we knew another world beaconed you from afar
And to it's call you would then depart
Leaving me uncertain to live with a lonely heart
To face the turmoils of a single woman's part
In our future that was ours to start
As we walked freely where the wind blew
Our whispered voices, yours and mine
In a land where the palm tree's grew fine
For me it was an unforgettable night
