Heart Of The Matter

The April Moon

I sit up writing late into the night,
Contented in my quiet little room,
It's dark outside, yet still the room is light,
Illuminated by an April moon,

My thoughts, I cast to far off yonder star,
That's sure to twinkle till the early dawn,
Across a mighty ocean's where you are,
A gentle soul, to focus my mind on,

I wonder how we ever came so far?
Along a path of fear and guilt and pain,
Our disillusionment now on a par,
We struggle now to love and trust again,

The April moon, shines brightly in my night,
And not a soul around: to hear my plight.
