Just this morning I got quite a shock
I was baking and looked up at my clock
The time changed for daylight saving time
How fast the days fly is almost a crime
.ˇ:*¨¨*:ˇ
How quickly our lives do tick on by
I got lost as I remembered with a sigh
Father with me laughing on the slide
My childhood days with mother at my side
.ˇ:*¨¨*:ˇ
Two sisters running hand in hand
Friends playing together in the sand
My teenage years, my first boyfriend
My graduation, when it came to an end
.ˇ:*¨¨*:ˇ
I've searched for that child for a long while
With the gentle smile and manners so mild
Where did she go? Did she ever know?
That just a tick away her life would grow
Now an old lady moves about so slow
.ˇ:*¨¨*:ˇ
Filled with blessings as a woman of grace
Portraying God's kindness on her sweet face
Is she still that girl with the gentle smile
The shy loving mother with manners so mild?

Note:
Youth has a way of fooling us into
thinking we can live forever.
We almost believe we are invincible.
Aww! But as we face our senior years,
time suddenly takes on a new meaning.
We remain young at heart inside, but
on the outside we are ancient relics
of our former selves.
So sad you may say, yet true...
Growing older does bring wisdom.
