 So Sad It's Funny
The cigarette smoke clouds the bar and the live band deafens you
The only thing that you can think of, ‘Is she looking at you?'
And the second thought is, ‘so what you going to do?'
A tap on the shoulder from your mate, reminding you that it's your round
You put your hand to your ears to try to hear what he says because of the sound
Hearing a muffled cry of beers and a JD and coke
You nod whilst coughing because of the smoke
The next day is work, but it's a weekday, but you need to break up the week
Could have said ‘sorry not coming out tonight' but you know that's weak
Getting too old for this
Going out on the p!ss
Just want to meet a nice girl and settle for an easy life
Looking at the barmaid, thinking she'd make a great wife
Or just a good one night of passion and fun
Then realizing she's not the one
A life times relationship in a single thought
You get the drinks and look at your change from £20 and look at what you've bought
This bar is like all the rest, a sinking ship of desperate woman and blokes
Trying to seduce one another with p!ss poor jokes
The next day with your breath smelling of take-away chicken and drink
And your clothes smelling of cigarettes, you get washed at your sink
Off to work with a hangover and slightly less money
Walking out the door, you have to laugh because it's so sad it's funny.
