¤ ¤ ¤A Mouse in School ¤ Child's Poem
If you took a mouse to school
Would you share your desk with him?
Would you take his hand in prayer
Teach him to sing a hymn?
¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤
Could he join your friends outside
To swing as high as he could go?
In your pocket hidden in there
So his face would never show?
¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤
In silence sleep all through a test
Or would he nibble on your ear?
Run up and down your leg with glee
Laugh out loud and would not care?
¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤
Do you think at recess time
Would he ask you for a bite?
Chase the teacher from her desk
Oh boy! Wouldn't that be a sight?
¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤
Do you think a mouse so small
Could get on line or surf the net?
Contact buddies on AOL
Or would he be the teacher's pet?
¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤
Would he wear your overalls
Scare the little girls at play?
Run along the teacher's chair
Or dance the jitterbug all day?
¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤
Isn't that a lovely thought
To take a little pal each day?
Walk to school and be in class
But what on earth would Mommy say?
