::::**::** Crossing the Rio Grand:**::**
::::**::**: ::::**::**: ::::**::**: ::::**::**: ::::**::**:
A dearest friend in sadness sat to share with me her vivid past
With sighs that marked a heart resolved she spoke, her eyes downcast
::::**::** ::::**::**
A thirst to find freedom's way, her husband and she were destitute
A dream a vision was then born which changed their life-long attitude
::::**::** ::::**::**
She took the first uncertain steps, towards a promised dream they had
To a land where she found a job and settled down, but she was sad
::::**::** ::::**::**
Her hubby's crossing was delayed, as paper works in mountains laid
On lawyer's desks in bunches high 'tho their hard earned cash was paid
::::**::** ::::**::**
Still no word of travel came until their hearts bowed under strain
In desperation sick at heart and after years and years apart
::::**::** ::::**::**
Her hubby took matters in his hands, so he swam the old Rio Grand
To his beloved working hard, together they would make a stand
::::**::** ::::**::**
A grim faced man in manners changed, she welcomed into her open arms
The man she saw was not the same, his sadness caused her much alarm
::::**::** ::::**::**
On his face there were signs of age and he had nothing much to say
Together they pray and wait, Immigration still is in their way

Note:
It is sad to know that some people must struggle
so hard to improve their lives.......
To live "The American dream".
