A lone bear walks in shadows deep
The moon his only allibi
He smells the trails of footprints old
Clear as maps 'neath darken sky
*~*~* *~*~* *~*~* *~*~* *~*~*
He fears no-one, this king of beasts
Covered by the sky's grand dome
He sauthers through the pathless woods
Preferring best to be alone
*~*~* *~*~* *~*~* *~*~* *~*~*
With freedom's joy, he claims this right
To wander where and when he please
Away from evil mankind's lares
Hidden by majestic trees
*~*~* *~*~* *~*~* *~*~* *~*~*
But now and then he dares to thread
The littered paths of noisy men
Unseen, unheard in hushed respect
Away from his low earthen den

Silent as the grave he goes
Through woods he alone doth know
As day takes charge of night again

Man his only bitter foe
