* Becoming an American *
v*v*v* v*v*v* v*v*v* v*v*v* v*v*v*
Every drop of love remaineth
Cause my heart to break in twain
As I ponder on my choices
I can't help but think again
v*v*v* v*v*v* v*v*v* v*v*v*
Once so far away in coming
Now a luminous light ahead
All my hopes now swiftly running
As my doubts are slowly shed
v*v*v* v*v*v* v*v*v* v*v*v*
Oh, but costly is my fortune
And the price to pay is grim
Turning back and heart to country
Fills my cup to sorrow's rim
v*v*v* v*v*v* v*v*v* v*v*v*
Respite from thinking, may I linger
As I stop to dream again
Of those blue enchanted waters
And those beaches in the rain
v*v*v* v*v*v* v*v*v* v*v*v*
It's my turn to leave behind me
All I held and still hold dear
Gone forever is my birthright
For a dream I humbly swear
v*v*v* v*v*v* v*v*v* v*v*v*
Tell my heart not of its loses
Or of roots so deeply grown
But of chances new in coming
World of wonder proudly shown
v*v*v* v*v*v* v*v*v* v*v*v*
I can hear the sands a-calling
As my soul within me churn
Still this yearning, Oh, believe me
From my homeland I can't turn

Note:
Thankful for the wonderful
oppurtunities we have received
in this country, we pledge
our alligiance to its flag.
God bless America!
