 Just Before Dawn

The dark, quiet time before dawn
calms my troubled heart.
Just outside my door,
moonbeams play hide and seek
with the shadows,
coaxing them to awaken the world
with the rising sun.
Overnight, the sky has wept with me.
The streets glisten with heavenly tears.
The calm air is still untouched by man.
This new day marks new beginnings
in my life.
Old patterns are finally resolved
and discarded
and as each dawn welcomes the promise
of a new day,
I learn a new dance
that gracefully guides my steps forward
into this new world
without you.
