HE TELLS ME

He tells me what to do
Sings "DRINKIN' ALONE" baby ain't for you
But tonight this first one tastes good
I'd listen to ya Keith if I understood

Why a man's hurtin' me
'Cause they want to be free
Why I'm callin' him again
Why it's too hard to be a friend

Jack and cokes my friend right now
As I look out at my town and wonder somehow
As this rain's pouring wet
As a woman I don't get

Why I keep on forgiving
Why I gotta go on living
Why can't I be like Eve
With an Adam who don't leave

Is there gonna come a day
When men realize I'm more than play
'Cause that's all they wanna do
Then it leaves me here feelin' like a fool

For loving their voices
Aching with these choices
Of letting them back in
Keith, you are such a good friend

Your songs move me to joy
May you and your lady have a boy
Who grows up just like you
To want to play some song of true

Shinin' out to one of my grandchildren
Mr. Urban, the music you're wielded
It gets me through the rain
Makin' me see my pain

Will go away with your song
Leadin' me along
To at least not drinkin' too much alone
To take this sponge of a heart that turned to stone

Take it back to soaking up the love
Someday a man will fit me as a glove
I won't keep him in a drawer
He'll be on my hand to love for evermore.
