Heart Of The Matter

Gentle And Serene

The band played on, I watched the people dance,
The music loud and pounding in my brain,
So many people looking for romance,
I've come back to this smoky place again,

And then I saw you walk in through the door,
You caught my eye; I laid my feelings bare,
And walking to my table as before,
I move and signal to an empty chair,

You leaned and whispered softly in my ear,
The words that touch me to my very soul,
And Oh! How good it feels to have you near,
As once again, my love, you make me whole.

And I was happy, as I'd ever been,
And all around was gentle and serene.
