Poetry For Everyday People
Mother Always Told Me
Mother always told me
son you're born a blank page
fill it up with love honey
stay away from hate
my child, my child
learn to love rainy days
mother always told me
son dark clouds don't mean harm
better dream beneath the moon
then light candles in a storm
my child, my child
man's got to show the world his blues
mother always told me
son you gonna grow-up a fine man
keep your word and be kind
always stand always stand
my child, my child
nothing buried ever dies
mother always told me
son people die but they don't change
my love will be with you
with every honest step you make
my child, my child
learn to love rainy days
son you're born a blank page
fill it up with love honey
stay away from hate
my child, my child
learn to love rainy days
mother always told me
son dark clouds don't mean harm
better dream beneath the moon
then light candles in a storm
my child, my child
man's got to show the world his blues
mother always told me
son you gonna grow-up a fine man
keep your word and be kind
always stand always stand
my child, my child
nothing buried ever dies
mother always told me
son people die but they don't change
my love will be with you
with every honest step you make
my child, my child
learn to love rainy days
