They met on a blind date
In the fall of nineteen forty-eight.
A friend of a friend made the match.
Eugene thought Virginia quite a catch.
A spark ignited and burst into flame.
"Twasn't long 'til wedding bells came.
June the eleventh, nineteen hundred forty-nine
Eugene and Virginia in love entwined.
Once planted in Faith, their love
Became fertile and cultured thereof.
Their Victory Garden blossomed twofold
With a son and a daughter to love and to hold---
Ruby red were their roses cultured
With love and faith they nurtured.
Now, after forty years of growing
Their blossoms of ruby still perfect and glowing.
A garden full of beauty and splendor
Gives us a bounty of love so tender---
A heritage we're proud to pass on.
