We were friends
don't you remember
did tough times
make you surrender
we were friends
now we're pretenders
so many nights
we stayed up talking
crying and hugging
about this pain we're walking
we were friends
and love was true
guess it got us too
ate away our hearts
but our souls are true
no matter the dark
we were friends
and love was true
now you're wrapped
in what humanity brings
can't find your way out
long enough to remember your friend
we were friends
and love was true.
