I've been searching for rainbows, every time I see the rain
The promise of a pot of gold sounds easy to obtain
At the end of the rainbow, my treasures will be stored
Often thought I've found it but it's hard to contain
Cause finding those lucky pots are dreamer's make-believes
And too much fancy wishing should be left to silly teens
Perhaps my pot of gold lies buried in a dark ravine
Or shadowed by two mountains high, nestled in between
I've wasted years in looking, my youth has long been gone
And someone else has been there, the pots have been withdrawn
Now I've done my searching, my efforts all foregone
So I've settled down to praying at each early dawn
Other treasures I hide high, in heaven's great domain
And that hidden pot of gold can just as well remain
For younger foolish dreamers, as I can now proclaim
That God holds a more worthy gift for all who call HIS name
