Back In Time

I turned the pages back in time
and saw the sweetest smile
upon the face of a little boy
haven't seen that in awhile
That ever trusting tiny soul
my greatest pride and joy
Mothers love for her first born
my beautiful baby boy
Took his hand we silently walked
through memories of him and I
what love we shared together
in those days long gone bye
I watched his smile grow wider
saw such love in hazel eyes
where has that little boy gone
all grown up, how time flies
Now the hand I take
is much larger than my own
but he bears the same smile
the one I've always known
A man now with his own boy
just a tiny reflection of him
that little face from long ago
now shines on both of them
From generation to generation
the love just grows and grows
its a special feeling deep inside
only a Mother knows
Sometimes I have to look back
past memories I long to touch
