I FOUND A WALLET TODAY
Having no one with whom to talk,
Took a leisurely stroll through the park;
Was really enjoying my peaceful walk,
Listening to birds sing and little dogs bark.
A man dropped something by a tree,
Wondered, "What is this I have found?"
Walked quickly over and what should I see,
But a big fat wallet on the ground?
Felt a sudden frightening surge of guilt,
For I knew I was about to do wrong;
Looked around and stealthily knelt,
For that wallet my heart sure did long!
Snatched the treasure up, oh so quick!
And dropped it inside my pocket;
Said to myself, "What a horrible trick!"
Then again I thought, "Don't knock it!"
Made a sudden mad dash toward my house,
But then I stopped dead in my track;
I knew I could never be such a louse,
So I gave the man's wallet back.
Having no one with whom to talk,
Took a leisurely stroll through the park;
Was really enjoying my peaceful walk,
Listening to birds sing and little dogs bark.
A man dropped something by a tree,
Wondered, "What is this I have found?"
Walked quickly over and what should I see,
But a big fat wallet on the ground?
Felt a sudden frightening surge of guilt,
For I knew I was about to do wrong;
Looked around and stealthily knelt,
For that wallet my heart sure did long!
Snatched the treasure up, oh so quick!
And dropped it inside my pocket;
Said to myself, "What a horrible trick!"
Then again I thought, "Don't knock it!"
Made a sudden mad dash toward my house,
But then I stopped dead in my track;
I knew I could never be such a louse,
So I gave the man's wallet back.
