Poetry For Everyday People

Comfort Thought

I am not
sure?
of what it is
I am quilting
or building
what pieces
fit where
what gets covered
what gets revealed

I do know
there's something
here that saves me
slow cooking defeating
time in it's own game

see I'm breathing now
easy as a cup of tea
orange spice
easy as I fished
in the Nile when I
was a kid

Lucille Clifton
deep in my heart
a blues home
a poem tin roof

memories
seeping
a cloud
hides
the moon.
