BRANDON, MASTERPIECE OF LOVE

I loved to look at his sweet little face,
Even when I was down in the dumps and sad;
Hurt, angry, or whatever the case,
Brandon made my heart feel glad.

On the day that he was to be born,
We waited all day for him to come;
Pacing the floor since early morn,
Nervously chattering and chewing gum.

I wanted to be there when he came,
Took my family to the Hall that night;
I missed the meeting and felt shame,
Rushed to the hospital all in a tight;

When I got there he was already born,
His daddy wheeling him from the delivery room;
Looking proud and sounding like an old foghorn,
"It's a boy!" I didn't get back a minute too soon;

Emotions that filled my soul that night,
As I stared down at my handsome grandson,
Can't be put into words, but this one's just right--
Masterpiece--beautifully done!
