God's Scribe Poetry Selections
Cries
Why are we so afraid to cry?
Why do we fear the tears
That fall so sweetly from
Our desperate eyes?
Why don't we realize
How much our heart
Longs for the release
That only comes from
These drops of
Love and fear,
Pain and joy,
Silence and thunder,
Hatred and obsession?
What is so wrong about
Breaking the flood gates
Built behind the iron walls
Of our eyes?
If the eyes are the windows
To our soul,
Why can't they show
The ocean of emotions
Within us?
Why should it matter
What others might
Say
Or think
Or do?
Do they not also cry
In the night,
Hidden from our eyes?
So, what do we have to fear
By showing we are simply
Living
Breathing
Feeling
Human beings?
If our God has given us all
The ability to cry
Why should we view it as strange
When someone chooses to use
These vents in our lives?
Cry!
Without fear,
Without embarrassment,
Without judgment
I say,
Cry!
