WHO NEEDS PAIN?

I've heard said that pain is a good thing,
From sharp muscle spasms to a little sting;
Throbbing aches and pulsating twinges,
The agony of bones grinding on their hinges.

Each pain we feel, whether short or long,
Makes us realize when something is wrong;
Helps give our physicians some kind of clue,
To the torment and misery we suffer through.

Whatever ails us, we must try to acquire,
Ability to stand pain that burns like fire;
In misery, rolling from side to side,
For centuries millions have cried and cried.

Doctors and scientists continue to seek,
Relief from what leaves us limp and weak;
In hopes that we never again have to feel,
The tortures of another distressing ordeal.

Though this might all sound good and true,
I'm sure there must be others, including you;
Who surely don't see the benefit or gain,
From tasting the bitternes of agonizing pain.
