Can't We Just Be

Fall into
our fate
glide in
and save our needs,
all those soft places
we need touched,
all those words
we need to hear,

aren't we old
enough
to fulfill us?

how many diplomas or promotions
how many experiences
how much internal turmoil
how long a search
before we free us,

before those
sweet
kind
scared
lonely
voids
get
tenderly
and
patiently
kissed.
