He thought she was fine in her cheerleader's suit
Every day he stared at that girl so cute
As she practiced on the field his fate was sealed
The young football hero fell head over heal
Years flew by but they never made a date
For shyness kept him back often too late
Other young men dragged her attention away
And in his heart love pangs came to stay
Like a sharp tipped knife it sliced at his pride
So she never became his beloved bride
They travelled on separate paths through life
She then became another man's wife
Sadly throughout his life he remained alone
She frequently made many trips back home
In his room along with the trophies he saved
He placed her locket with her name engraved
