God Was There
God Was There
For every time I didn't know
the next answer
or I failed to see the bigger picture
God was there
in my anguish and heartbreak
through all doubts and fears
I felt His presence
right in this heart, right here
in my anger, when I was put in danger
God was there
For every step along my path
rather it was golden
or I stumbled with the devil's wrath
God was there
with His gentle voice to guide me back
when I thought I had no hope left
God was there to give me faith
I had no reason to really trust Him
but I am so glad I did
He not only rescued me a million times
but He died for my sins
God was there even if I couldn't always feel Him
this I know because I survived
I have lived this long
only because of His grace
and because in my heart I know
my work here isn't done
