Hovering Dragonflies
Walking down to the bridge
To be mesmerized by the brook,
I look deep into the rushing water
My heart and soul have been hooked.
I gaze up at the azure sky
The eagles fly, looking for food,
Loons sing their mating songs
Others, try to intrude.
I walk over to the other side of the road
Hovering dragonflies, are all I see,
Looking for mosquitoes and other bugs
Fluttering like an invading army.
Their slender bodies, and fragile wings
Float along with the spring breeze,
Turquoise and black in color
The beauty of nature, captivates me.
