red biddy ramblings

he sits there in his mansion
and he lives a life of ease
surrounded by retainers
just there to serve and please
he believes in queen and country
of that he is so sure
and he never lifts a finger
except for a manicure
he takes his seat in the lords
and regularly swaps his wife
he's a pillar of society
and leads a blameless life
but he's never danced a tango
on a deserted summer beach
drunk hoochie cheap wine
tasting like acid mixed with bleach
and he's never ever stood naked
after love over all too soon
admiring her sleeping body
beneath a great harvest moon
and he's never known that hunger
that comes from having to choose
of how to spend your last quid
on the oblivion of cheap booze
instead of the junkie food
the processed trash
that's all i can afford to buy
with my meagre amount cash
and he and his ilk
sit there and pontificate for years
on the sad ignorance
and decline of me and my peers
and he pays his advisors richly
to help him evade his tax
while he preaches of standards
he perceives as being lax
he's an officer and a gentleman
and he'll use wisely use his breath
to win that important battle
at the cost of another being's death
and when any war is over
you can bet he'll be found
picking over the spoils
from the devastation all around
he's a conservative or socialist
he doesn't really care
he just joins any party
for the profits that are there
he's a pillar of society
superb example of his kind
happy in the sanctuary of his
privileged  and selfish mind
