Day after day we rise at dawn
Praying for strength to carry on
Never knowing what's in the mail
Or which collector found our trail
Afraid of who will pass us by
Of staring into a stranger's eye
Reluctant to answer the telephone
It's best not to speak of loans
This cruel world leads us astray
Our luxury bills we cannot pay
There are ways to get rich schemes
Temptations follows us it seems
How fast do we reach the end
Our dignity we must defend
By casting our sad eyes above
To God's glory and forgiving love
We'll keep on the straight and narrow
If we don't make the mistake to borrow
Be satified with the things we've got
Regardless if we are poor or not
The way to find a peaceful end
Is to hold our heads straight
