That Alluring Scent

I stood in line today.
So many impatient people
in a hurry to go nowhere.
An incredible, enticing aroma
stirred me.
I stared at the cute cowlick
on the crown of your head.
Nice that you turned around
to look at me.
You caught my fragrance too.
Such warm smiles we exchanged.
Words escaped me
Had I tried to speak,
I would have simply sputtered.
Oh, to see that dimple
one more time.
The check out girl
moved a bit too fast today.

** This is the first of a series of poems inspired by my friend Carl.
